The lunch for Oscar nominees takes place today (Monday). In fact, the stars are arriving right now for it in Hollywood.
If you could pick three to have lunch with, whom would they be?
Heck, I’d volunteer to serve at the luncheon just to have the opportunity of spilling something on one of them!
I’d love to surprise you and not pick George Clooney as one, but I’d be crazy not to, especially since I’m a longtime “ER” fan and also loved “The Descendants.”
So, No. 1 George Clooney.
No. 2: Meryl Streep: I haven’t seen “Iron Lady,” but I’ve seen lots of her other films and, besides, she just seems like fun in a social setting.
Hmm, No. 3 is tough.
Do I pick Jonah Hill or Melissa McCarthy hoping he/she’d be funny?
Or do I pick Martin Scorsese or Woody Allen because they’re industry icons?
Octavia Spencer almost certainly would have entertaining things to say.
I’m going with Alexander Payne, who is nominated as director and co-writer for “The Descendants.” He also directed and co-wrote “Sideways,” another movie I enjoyed.
Those are my picks; who are yours?
